Things to do in London: Quill London’s Modern Calligraphy Class

Whether you’re struggling for a gift for your mother, looking for an activity to book with friends or are just looking for a new hobby, I went to the best class last weekend. Run by Quill London, the Modern Calligraphy classes are guaranteed to start your new obsession and I can attest to the fact that you don’t have to be artistically gifted in any way, shape, or form – nor have nice handwriting.

It’s the perfect creative activity for those basically a bit crap at art, as within the few hours we all produced writing that was at least passable as modern calligraphy. You get given a pen (I’m not sure that’s what it’s called), nib, black ink and some practise paper, so you’re all set to go home and practise even more.  It’s also very relaxing, like a way better, version of adult colouring books.

The shop is pretty instagramable, and as well as all the supplies and coloured inks you could possibly need, they also sell some of the most beautiful stationary I’ve ever seen. I finished 5 minutes early so I could have a good shop at the end!

I bought this most gorgeous address book, and not only is it beautiful, but it also has a calendar for birthdays and special days, so I will never forget a birthday again(?) (I also think these would make a pretty good Mothers Day present!)

Edited-6So whether you want to treat your mum, yourself, or have impeding invitations to write – this would be perfect prep for wedding invites!, this class was wonderful and I’d definitely reccomend it. And if you’re still not sold, they give you cake half way through. ‘Nough said.

You can sign up to the course waiting list here, and shop their beautiful website here. Enjoy!
