Seasonal trends can be difficult to embrace. Gareth Pugh’s SS17 jazzy marble crocs, Alexander McQueen’s 2012 Armadillo shoes, everything from the Naughties… Velvet on the other hand, is a trend I’m only too happy to get behind…
It’s so easy. No matter what your style and your budget, there are velvet updates for everyone. Bored of plain leather courts? Try the ahh-mazing Topshop velvet ones in a silvery grey (below). Looking for a new autumn jacket but don’t want to spend a fortune? The Zara jacket I’m wearing is perfect, a great alternative to bomber jackets (and warmer), and only £45.99 here. (And if you are looking to spend a fortune, Ganni’s ice blue Hayden jacket is everything!) And lastly, if you’re ridiculously organised, and already looking for Christmas presents, these Will Bees bags are beautiful, and they all come personalised with your gift-ees initials.
So, if like me you have a *wide* disparity between your imaginary wardrobe and your purchasing power, you’re probably looking for something reasonably priced. So here’s my top velvety picks for AW16:
Left: Kooples Kimono in Devore-Effect Velvet – £265 here
Right: Toyshop GARDENIA Velvet Court Shoes – £46 here
Left: Boden Richmond Velvet Trousers – £79.50 here
Right: Michael Michael Kors Edie Crystal-embellished Velvet Slippers – £155 here
Left: Ganni Hayden Velvet Jacket – £280 here
Right: Asos Basic Velvet Choker Necklace – £5 here
Left: Topshop Arson Western Ankle Boots – £89 here
Right: Will Bees Bespoke Florence Neon Pouch – £35 here
Lots of love and a happy payday!
