Dry skin is such a bore. It makes fake-tanning a nightmare (which is, in itself, a nightmare) and it makes foundation patchy. Face-dandruff gets a thumbs down from me.
However, I have now cultivated what I consider to be a pretty much perfect dry skin regime. I know that all skin is different, and this won’t work for everyone, but its made up of reasonable priced products (having tried most of the products out there), I think this is a great place to start and work out what is best for you.
I start the day with the L’Occitane Precious Cleansing Foam, which is a glorious product. It smells fantastic, lasts FOR AGES, and doesn’t leave your face tight and uncomfortable like so many cleansers do. I cleanse and then use a cold flannel to remove the foam, which is just rough/gentle enough to remove any dead skin without giving me a tomato red face.
I then use the Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cream. The Kiehl’s packaging kind of puts me off, but on a dark day when I’d run out of my normal moisturiser I was forced to use a sample sachet and it was amazing. Not stingy like a lot of moisturisers on dry skin, it feels wonderful and has hugely reduced my dry skin and red marks.
I add two drops of the Trilogy Rosehip Oil to my moisturiser, for added moisturising and fine line reducing (I’m a 22 year old worrier).
And then for foundation. MAC deserve a kiss from every dry skinned girl for their Mineralize Moisture SPF15 Foundation. Because it’s a revelation. Honestly, I have tried *a lot* of foundations, and they are always a bit too orange, a bit too shiny, a bit too drying, a bit too matte.
This foundation is glorious, it leaves you with a beautiful dewy glow, and won’t ruin your skin. Its definitely worth a try! For added moisturising, and on hungover or coldy days
I add a drop of Kiehl’s Daily Reviving Concentrate, as its amazing at moisturising and brightening (even if you feel like crawling under a table and dying).
I hope this helps my fellow dry-skinned girls and guys. If you have any of your own wonder products I’d love to hear them, especially if you have a make-up remover or mask for those hung-over days!
Lots of love.
